This was an assignment for my typography class. The assignment was to choose a band/musician and design three pieces for that band. I chose Simon and Garfunkel in an attempt to rebrand their identity for a modern audience. My three items I chose are a wild poster, concert poster, and album cover. Their actual album covers were photographs of themselves and I felt that there was a lot of room for artistic expression.

 

These were some original concept sketches for the project. My original idea was more literal. When given feedback by my professor, he convinced me to combine the sadness and isolation that is present in the music with something optimistic. I was then inspired to think metaphorically in order to tell a story with the pieces.
